There's a lot of complaints about Mega Tyranitar just getting more spikes, but at least in this case its design is referencing Space Godzilla, which is basically just Godzilla but bigger and spiker. I think it's still worse than regular ttar, but better than some of the other "more spikes" mega evolutions.
