The thing was though, that nobody took gaming journalists serious and most thought they could be bought by game publishers for good reviews.

What was probably more infuriating to gamers, was the fact these guys were thinking better of themselves and thought they were doing something noble by smearing the whole hobby, that they were supposed to represent as well.
