I know this is an old post but I finally have a real response to this.
The scene couldn't be Kris resisting us with all his might because we would have still had options to say something.
In the very same chapter on the same route, we are talking to Susie in front of the piano and we have the option to say "I'll never play again" which if we select, Kris will bite his tongue to resist us saying it.
In the creepy scene in the rain when responding to Susie after what we did to Noelle, we are given NO options.
This is either because we're briefly off the path and the prophecy cannot source options for us,
OR
This is somehow being sent to Noelle
I dont like the latter theory because theres not alot to go off of, and assuming that this IS being sent to Noelle instead of Kris, it doesnt make sense that we have no options.
I would be more inclined to follow the latter theory if we were given options that mysteriously went unsaid just for us to close our eyes later, think about Noelle, and witness her repeating whatever option we were trying to tell Susie
