I had a dream about ch 5.

Kris' family worked together to summon the dark fountain, they did it hy synchronized dancing like it eas elite best agent. There was 3 kids (all girls), dad wore a suit, the mom was dressed like frisk and looked like if frisk was a wrinkled 60-yo woman. The dad's voice was like a generic 50's dad but higher pitched (like dale gribble's father) and at one point he said "good job ral!" as a nickname for rachel.

The dark world ended up being infinite rows of damages suburban homes in rows, each containing a dark world. The worlds were not dark, the black and darkness was replaced entirely with a semi-bright, muted rainbow colouring, kind of like it was a don bluth movie. All of the houses were connected by giant thorned flowey vines. The visuals of these houses exploding outwards to create the infinite house mesh was actually really cool.

When I was finally inside a dark world it was like a 3D undergroind on-rails DCK minecart second that ended with a dark souls boss that kicked my ass.

Noelle not being in the party is a big detriment to Suselle. They barely interact for +95% of the game, and when they do it’s all forced romantic stuff to hammer home they are totally in deep love.

Compare it to Kris and Susie, who feel like they are actually close because they are together almost all the time. There are very few romantic moments between them, but their relationship is more believable because they hang out as friends constantly. Same for Kris x Noelle. Even excluding the backstory and not counting the weird route, I wouldn’t be surprised if Noelle x Kris had more screen time than Noelle x Susie. Suselle feels forced because it’s all pay-off with no build up.

One factor that does push me towards the first impression (that it's bad on purpose) is how actually non-important Suselle has been so far. I don't mean to say it's not gonna be a vital part of the final plot, but when you think about it, they've had like two major scenes so far and we're halfway through the game. If Toby intended for Suselle to be the deciding factor of the game that's meant to be the real way things get solved and the endgame ship, I feel like it'd have been way more present and developed and Noelle would have played a part at all in Susie's character development instead of just being a spectator that gets to hang out with her after all the difficult part is over. The fact it seems to be something that's kinda happening on the side and separate from all the real developments kinda pushes me to think it's a red herring.

What anon clearly means to say is that the potential scenario where a gay character gets rejected because the person they've onesidedly crushed on before even getting to know them enough to figure it out, is actually straight, is basically impossible. I find this to be the case in most fiction featuring a gay romance in fact, nobody wants to portray a situation where a gay person falls for a straight one and gets rejected, no matter how gently and nicely it might be done, and even though that's really the most likely case for gay people irl getting crushes without first discovering the other person's sexuality.

This basically leads to the assumption that everyone in universe is always bisexual, since at any moment a gay character could fall for them and they WILL reciprocate it. Only setting I even know of where this doesn't happen is League of Legends.

Im in another theorycrafting mood.
Im thinking of tackling why the Knight is deliberately leaving shadow crystals with darkners.
It appears this might actually be the reason for the Roaring Knight creating dark worlds in the first place.
If the objective was to start the Roaring by opening too many dark fountains then that could easily be done behind the Heroes' back.
What we see however is a dark world being opened, closed then opened again in another area.
It almost seems like the Knight has an objective more than just opening dark fountains and may even be waiting for the previous fountain to close before opening another as if to avoid starting the Roaring too soon.
Whats more is there is obvious evidence that the Knight is the one leaving the crystals putting down the theory that Gaster is the one making schizos out of midgets.
King mentions that Jevil was the one that brought up the Roaring Knight to him implying that the Knight met with Jevil and only Jevil as King says that he's never met the Knight.
Spamton tries to talk about the knight before glitching out and apologizing as if to say he knows too much and something stopped him (maybe the crystal?) implying that he knows more about the knight than Queen.
Chapter 3 we stopped the knight before they could plant the shadow crystal, and I speculate Tenna or Ramb was the target.
Chapter 4 they targeted Gerson but he was wise enough not to use it as he saw no value in it.
What I want to know is what value is there in doing this? To recruit them by instilling a desire for freedom? A goal that the Knight can use as the carrot on a stick?
Does it correlate with why the Knight is looking for "sacrifices"?
Are they just pawns to buy the Knight time to find said sacrifices?

Personally I was more thinking that somehow the whole Susie/Noelle relationship gets marred by the prophecy telling about how the girl finds LOVE. Does that means that visiting a place with lots of humans is physically impossible? Of course not, just that the story isn't going to go there.

Spamton saw this and was horrified, instilling a new ambition to free himself from his false world.
Gerson was much wiser and likely because he was originally a Lightner, knowing the dark world around him was fake had no impact on him because it doesn't mean the world he left behind was.

I'll be honest, I don't really ship "myself" with Noelle, like I'm not yumeshipping or imagining me with Noelle, but I find the concept of the Soul and Noelle so interesting.
The Soul is basically this world's god, a player of a game, this world exists almost solely to be their playground, and it becomes OBSESSED with this random girl. With using her, making her stronger, it isn't love but obsession with an npc in a game, wishing at some level "I wish I could be with them" and going so hard you break the game to do that.
Noelle is either mindbroken into loving it or at some level uses Soul-possessed Kris as a surrogate for real Kris. Imagining it was her friend doing this, the friend she drifted from giving her this attention. The same one who promised to protect her. She knows it isn't Kris but uses (YOU) as a replacement because, you might as well be them. Telling herself at some level you are acting on Kris' emotions, that at some level Kris wants her too.
And there is Kris who is forced to watch as their body and their friend "fall in love" unable to do anything. Bonus points if Kris did have feelings for Noelle at some point and is forced to watch as a demon uses those feelings to hurt and break Noelle for "content".

Anyone else surprised by Kris' control over himself in chapter 4?
I dont mean in the sense of resisting us but after he rips us out.
In chapter 2 it appears like he stumbles around as if he's moving with great difficulty without us, implying he needs us to function properly.
In chapter 4 however, he's capable of doing so much more with precision and accuracy and its said by noelle that he visited her if we did the weird route.
If he's capable of doing these things without us, then why doesn't he just keep us in the cage.... forever?
Kris is technically already free. Why is he keeping us around? Why is working with the Knight? What is so important about us that he would even shove us back inside him even after what we did to Noelle?
What if Kris is being blackmailed by Carol?

But seriously, I think this ultimately is the truth, the fight/act dichotomy in Deltarune really is just a system Toby brought from Undertale because it is what he is know for. It would be weird for the guy who made a groundbreaking game about "oh btw the monsters in this game are actually real people" to walk that back, but if he sees it as a vestigial system rather than something necessary, it clearly isn't that important for Deltarune.
Ralsei's character arc of realizing pacifism isn't always possible, that some people can't be spared, Toby's belief that sometimes you must fight with conviction, the fact it is literally impossible for everyone to live with Ralsei straight up killing the Gerson-armor darkner (darkerner?)
While the events preceding the ending are a bit darker (like Jackenstein falling, Tenna not being saved) in the end the chapters all end the same whether you fight or not. The fountain is sealed and the light world business is all the same.
Chapter 1 was a demo of deltarune. Fighting and sparing aren't the true "choice" in deltarune, just something Toby HAD to include because of undertale.
The real choice is Normal Vs Weird. The weird route is the only time where the ending of a chapter changed, where the light world's end was affected, not just the dark world.
