Aka got full of himself with the success, overdid it with his beloved DRAMA while ignoring all the other aspects the readers actually liked about the manga, fumbled it all, and as a result he clearly stopped caring about it, by kelling nearly all the plot points teased since hundred of chapters earlier.
To be fair the fact that he had a divorce due to his wife cheating in the middle of it didn't help and turned the mood for the worst. Clearly he wasn't conviced about cute and optimistic romances anymore.
