What I hate the most about modern UI is that it's always massive and needs to fill up every corner of the entire screen, it looks so shitty, and you can tell that it's designed to only beviewed on a TV from across your living room. People call modern UI minimalist, but in overall design they are always weirdly maximalist, no screen real-estate is allowed to be left uncluttered without UI elements, no visual breathing room allowed at all.
This is what actual minimalist UI looks like, and it looks way better, and somehow still way more modern then most actual modern UI.
