I quoted you by mistake, it's not a John Ford western. You should watch it however, it's the first western filmed in widescreen 70mm and a lot of things about it are pioneering and unique. It rejects Hollywood's traditional long-medium-close shots sequencing and instead relies on very dense compositions of long and medium shots with very few medium close-ups (my picture above is one of them). Combined with pioneering use of sound it creates an image that is extremely progressive for its time and is closer to Altman's New Hollywood films than contemporary stagey productions.
