I only spent a day or two in the town before continuing my moto tour, but it's amazing to see something so comfy and functional essentially exist in the boonies of SEA. That they manage to build and operate all that in an area physically far out from Western world and economy. I saw students preparing boat lanterns to push down a river.

There is/are hotels, there are places to eat food, there is a hospital. Nothing crazy going on, but it seems that they function peacefully. Life goes along. There is nothing spectacular about it, but there is also no obvious visual chaos and subhumans like the equivalent town in, for example, philippines (or I bet brazil)
