This is what Troy Denning actually believes lmao

Seriously though, you're misremembering things. Vergere does not at any point teach Jacen to manipulate people. She teaches him that "questions are more true than answers". She teaches him to rely on his own judgment, and forces him to confront what she believes are problems with his worldview, namely that he externalizes the source of violent selfish desires (The Dark Side) rather than seeing it as something that is inside him.

Her response to him attempting to kill the last dhuryam is characteristic of her real philosophy. She is not just some moral subjectivist edgelord. What she is actually doing is forcing Jacen to take responsibility for his moral judgments and recognize that he cannot simply "fight the Dark Side". And her interpretation of this is clear: she and Jacen are the only ones who take action to prevent the genocide of the enemy in the next book. Vergere, despite her cryptic philosophy, is actually advocating for compassion and serious moral responsibility.

She even explains to Jacen, in the parable about the shadowmoth, that she cannot directly help him but she is watching over him, and he is not alone. She is not intentionally inflicting suffering on him.
