Major League Baseball is, at its core, set up to help small market teams while diminishing the large market teams who happen to keep their league above water. They bend over backwards to help the small market teams, by using MLB's marketing machine to promote players in smaller markets, by giving the small market teams draft picks, and by literally stealing money from the fans of big market teams and giving it to the smaller market teams.
