My brother was similar. I remember him saying on 9/11, after I got home from school, that America shouldn't have been fucking around in the Middle East. Not that they deserved it or anything, but that that funding mujahedin against the Soviets and shit like that had obvious risks and now consequences.
My boomer father on the other hand bought it completely. Along with similar stuff. When it became apparent that it was all lies he felt betrayed and became a tankie. He needs a good guy and a bad guy for some reason. So now he hates America and thinks BRICS is awesome and believes all of their propaganda instead.
