yeah because it's a classic sci-fi so no gods or hot demonesses sorry, but there is a "time limit" system at least in ME2 and the calendar mechanic is not that important to begin with.
Please do understand ME is the closest thing to persona in space at the moment. Although I completely agree with you an Atlus sci-fi jRPG game would be extremely nice.

Considering the fact that alien mythology is canon in ME it would be pure kino to see human demons fighting alien ones or to interact with their version of summoners and all that.
But unfortunately I don't see them going into sci-fi direction any time soon, Japan is really into magic and medieval aesthetics, that's why I even suggested playing ME instead to play "a sci fi RPG that scratches the itch".
