They do. They always have. Even in the recent lore of the World Eater's codex talks about warbands launching attacks via drop pods. I know we had that FW dreadclaw but it was pricey and a fucking stupid flyer hybrid.
I feel like GW thinks drop pods are an iconic SM thing and for that reason don't want to give it to CSM, even though they already share things like preds, landraiders, rhinos etc.
