For asphalt modifides, the NASCAR Whelen Modifieds Tour is the top series and Thompson is a pretty important venue for them. Its hard to say exactly what race is the "premier" event because they run there a couple of times a season. In fact, they just ran last Wednesday, for whatever reason. They said something about it being the most consistently frequented track on the schedule. I forget what the exact stat was.

It's weird to me that these things are considered stock cars and not open wheel cars. Here is a pretty great video explaining how they came to be.

Super Modifieds, on the other hand, include old Indy cars as part of their evolution, so I guess they can be considered full on open wheel cars.
