This is a good analogy. I do think participants of the system though are better placed now than ever to make the connections, and i tried to articulate that is my op regarding technology adoption.
Even a decade ago, many technologies were still in the opional stage. Today if you don't have an email, a smart phone, a bank account, even a car for many, the system alienates. By intention of the cultural engineers I think, this alienation is being particularly strongly felt by formerly strong participants or the siblings of strong participants to the expansion of the industrial society.
This supports our view that now is an emerging window of weakness for the industrial society at large as a certian thinking demographic start to be aware of the "train and the tracks".
That said, another purpose for creating this thread, was to gauge that sentiment, on a Sunday, amongst Mongolian basket weaving enthusiasts. This thread will die with only participants and my disappointment is fortified.
