Deltarune Chapter 1 had probably the greatest release of any game ever. You just had to be there, the Undertale twitter account goes dark, starts speaking cryptically, then posts a link to download some sort of survey.
Everything thinks it's Gaster or something, then BOOM you're Kris and Toriel's there and you think it's Undertale 2 then BOOM you're in a place with caves and the UI is different then BOOM there's a whole legend then there's tons of new and wacky characters then BOOM you get to the ending and Kris fucking RIPS THE SOUL OUT and pulls out a knife and smiles at the camera and then it just ends and all you can do is sit there
And you know what the best part of it was? You didn't even know the name of the game until the very ending, when the DELTARUNE name is finally unveiled. For the entire game, the window only says SURVEY_PROGRAM. There's no title anywhere.
Completely unforgettable. Only people who played it the second it came out can call themselves true fans.
