I think the bigger issue with Diddy's eyes isn't the line down the middle but that they lost their slant. They used to fan out at the sides and be widest at the tips, like butterfly wings. Now they're flat along the side and go straight up. Even if he still had the monoeye it'd look weird because they're a different shape.
