Because of my work being very physical, with near constant moving (including working at heights) i cant wear cages for very long periods of time.
for me usually just 2-3 days at a time, so i cant really speak for long time lock ups. However, for those 2-3 day periods, i havent noticed any major chaffing and any time i do, a small bit of lube or moisturizer usually fixes the issue.
