Their relationship is fine and serves to give Eda's past a bit more depth and show how long she and other adults on the Isles have had to deal with Belos's shit even as teens it was a corrupted coven system. Eda's teen angst against school and covens is made deeper by the interactions with Raine, and it's justified because the two clearly have feelings for each other and enjoy each other's company. It's not like they didn't want to be with each other... Eda was turning into a freakish owl monster and felt like nobody could ever love her because the system she lived under didn't want her. Her insecurities pushed a lot of people away and she ended up doubling down on her rebellion specifically to cope with her feelings of loneliness. Raine enabled her because he fucking loved her and tried to do everything he can to keep her safe from Belos's goon squads while remaining undercover and pretending to drink the kool-aid which brainwashes him. If anything you're double no, triple retarded because you think that Eda latching onto raine isn't part of the arc of her character where her deep rooted feelings of loneliness are confronted. "They're not 'mine' mine, ugh. It doesn't matter they both have real families to return to" She's a bitter old fucking hag with dried up eggs and no children and you can fucking SEE how much she wants to just off herself but Raine forces her to stay by taking away her instrument.
