It's like a case of a manga which TRIES to be 100% fanservice (as in trying to appeal to nobody but fans of the OG) by doing something, but failing to ACTUALLY replicate the feel of the OG in its attempt
Gash 1 was so much more than just battles. It wasn't a tournament arc (ironically enough, given that it was TECHNICALLY all just a tournament)
But this sequel just hasn't even tried to have anything like the fun appeal of its predecessor.
Pretty disappointing.
