Coffin is great because it partly scratches that itch in the part of the brain where the fascination of the morbid exists. I associate it with cold autumn nights, old, decaying Victorian cemeteries, abandoned buildings, and that place your mind goes when you end up on a rabbithole of high profile suicides, murders, etc and begin to ruminate on death, maybe even a little suicidal ideation of your own. You know how old cemeteries smell? I can't describe it, but it's something unique. I was never much of a horror game or film fan, but I love that sort of moody, atmospheric stuff that drives the imagination. I remember going for a walk on a moonlit night with heavy fog when I was about 14 and the blue shadows of the trees looming just beyond the veil as I walked unsettled me in a way I couldn't describe, and I wanted to immediately turn and go home, but yet it also compelled me to keep going even more. Coffin to me is like that, and I hope that when all is said and done, Nemlei releases her influences for a lot of the aesthetic and premise of the game because I demand more Coffincore.
