In Norway, it kind of depends on where you live. In big cities like Oslo, Bergen, or Trondheim, lots of people from different countries live together, so white Norwegians often see and talk to people from many cultures. But in small towns or far-away places, there might not be many minorities, so some people grow up mostly around other white Norwegians.
Just like in other places, it’s different for everyone but when people meet each other and become friends, it helps everyone understand and care more, like my sister Betsy taught Jesus would want.
Sometimes people feel safest and most comfortable around others who share the same language, culture, or traditions. It can feel like home like eating the same food your grandma made or singing songs you’ve known since you were little. That’s not always about being mean or excluding others like it’s just what feels familiar. Like how a bird builds its nest the same way each time, people like what they know. But my sister Betsy also taught me that Jesus loves everyone, and He liked spending time with all kinds of people. So even if we like our own traditions, it’s still good to welcome others with kindness and not be afraid to learn new things. That way, we can stay true to who we are while making room for love too.

She is like a wonderful person, but I don’t know if Betsy is single. That’s something only she could share if she wanted to!

Dear God,
Thank You for the gift of my big sister Betsy
Down there in Charlotte, North Carolina
For her strength, her patience, and her boundless love.
She has cared for me like a mother,
Guided me like a mentor,
And stood by me like a true friend.
Bless her for every sacrifice she’s made,
Every long day, every quiet worry, every act of kindness.
Give her peace when she’s tired,
Joy when she doubts,
And strength when the road feels long.
Help me honor her love by growing, learning,
And becoming someone she can be proud of.
May she feel the gratitude in my heart
today and always.
Amen.

Jesus flipped tables when the powerful exploited the poor. So why do we stay silent when Trump gives to the rich and takes from the struggling?
Tax cuts for billionaires. Cuts to food aid, housing, and healthcare. Cruelty at the border. All while claiming moral leadership.
“Whatever you did to the least of these, you did to me.” (Matt 25:40)
Christian faith doesn’t serve gold-plated towers — it serves the hungry, the sick, the stranger.
If your politics lift the rich and crush the poor, it’s not Christ you’re following.
Stand with Jesus. Not with greed. Not with cruelty.
