Yeah I understood it like that, but I was just trying to see if there was some official refs though...
Because I followed the "debacle" IRL, and indeed there has been a strange event where, like you described, the second referendum was shut down for "no apparent" reasons...
So yeah I can relate to it, and your earlier answer is just acting like a puzzle piece that inserted itself into my reading of the situation, especially the moment where I had a "black space" if I can say it like that...

Oh wow ! Nice ! Thank you very much, I didn't knew about it at all, even though I knew about the Mirage G with swept wings, but that is a great inception into the program that lead to both design/development... :)
But yeah, I can understand the fact that having an homogenous fleet would be more "money savy" than having an etherogenous one like you described during the Vietnam era for example, but it is just from an accounting pov and not from a tactical/strategic pov...
I would tend to give the benfice of the doubt for the operational pov too, of course, as it means less spares/parts/ different maintenance specs/practices etc, but from a tactical pov, having multiple specialized/ultra-specialized aircrafts; given that the sheer sums of money needed to support them are not a "problem" as the MIC doesn't look away from enormous amounts, and the US usage of printing for their "defense" purposes is not a problem; would be a really better approach I'd say...
At this time, we have a lot of "multirole" A/C, but they need a huge organisation/support to operate accordingly, ie needing a other aircraft aloft in support, wether for radar, air defense or other types...
I understand the evolution of the arms race in Aviation, but the philosophy have changed so much, thinking about it make me understand that it is difficult to compare what was before then now...
PS: To bad the V-507 didn't went to the skies as it is a sweet looking birds...
The story of the Avro Arrow is also one disapointing one...
And as for the Mc Namara thing, I must confess to you that I absolutely don't see what you're refering to... If you have some qrd or link for me to read/learn more about it please ? I mean, I guess what it convey given the context in which you express it but appart from that, I don't know about it...
