What's funny is that there does seem to be a clear link between Luce and the WEP girl, but Luce has taken on a life of her own, too, fueled by Christians and their love of her as a missionary totem.
I think in this regard she is a refutation of the idea that Christians are spiritually helpless in a wider world with great spiritual and paranormal powers. We must not forget that Christians have great spiritual power in their own right and they can enact great things in the world through sheer manifestation.
