It's been a while since I've read them but take for instance this small example. "He leído". No Spanish speaker would say this because it sounds unnatural. It means "I've read" (who says that?). "Hey, here's this book by so and so" "I've read". It sounds weird even in English.

What he means is probably "Lo he leído", which means "I've read it". A small word but it makes a difference between a natural and a fake.
