2024 alert is very different. Now it just gives you your proficiency bonus to initiative rolls and allows you to swap your spot in the initiative order with an ally. One of the things the 5.5e revamp did was nerf the feats everyone took and equalize most of them. Though of course it's still not 100% balanced.
