Asking this sort of question is like asking someone if he or she believes that they would make a good parent. My unironic answer to that question is that I would try to be the best dad I can possibly be, but I would always feel like I'm coming up short. Once a kid enters the picture, they are your first and foremost priority until you kick the bucket (heaven forbid they die before you do). Their growth of character and perspective on life is shaped by how they are raised and who they look up to. That's a delicate and daunting responsibility which few people measure up to. As a current grad student living out of their parents' house, I am very ill-suited for such a position. There would be an almost non-existent chance that I would be able to financially provide for her and be present when she would need me to be. It would ultimately be shouldered by my parents, which they shouldn't have to do with how things are financially for us and after putting up with my autistic ass for almost half of their lives. I honestly don't know what else to say.
