That Andrew Cunningham guy did exactly this and was like "Oh well sometimes Toby just needs to do silly videogame stuff, not everything needs to be theorized with" and I'm just like, dude, it has been established over and *over* again that EVERY game mechanic we see is diegetic. All of them. The reality these characters are in literally operates off of these game mechanics, Susie is literally confused after Ralsei delivers those tutorial lines. Characters physically interact with all the menus multiple times in combat and stuff.
