The actor was good, but he was too scrawny to actually be Hitler. In reality, he was, especially after Landsberg, a little on the chubby side. I think the actor's height was suitable, since Hitler was 5'8.
Another great movie about Hitler is "Look Who's Back" - the actor in that was fantastic too, even if it did (like Rise of Evil) portray him as an animal abuser when he wasn't. The actor in Look Who's Back was also way too tall to be Hitler, he looked to be at least 5'11 to 6'1.
I own a pirated copy of the novel but haven't read it yet.
