i appreciate that at least they made it clear at the end that Lalah's UC isn't *the* UC so I don't have to think about this trash when I'm watching better Gundam series.

it has its moments, the 1.5 eps of alt-UC were fun. The first half-cour is dominated by a stupid "duel of the week" story like WfM did but it has its occasional moments of glory like my new favorite MILF. It peaks halfway through when the Titans briefly show up, which is the only legitimately impressive fight in the whole show.
I cannot overstate how much of a travesty duel-of-the-week is both this Gundam and WfM. It's an utter lack of respect that the creators have for /m/echa, like they wanted to write a different story and they don't know how to include the robots in that so they just invent an arbitrary tournament where kids are encouraged to fight to the death and wreak massive collateral damage for a comparably insignificant prize (bitchass wife who hates you in WfM, a little spending money which barely covers MS maintenance in GQX).
I'm re-watching IBO the last couple of weeks, and one of things that struck me is that there are entire episodes with no fights. I didn't even remember that from having watched it previously; all i remember is that the fights which did happen were significant to the plot, they were well-animated and the stakes were such that not fighting was never a viable option for tekkadan. And IBO doesn't even make my top five favorite gundam series, but it comes off as an absolute work of renaissance art when I watch it right after GQX.
