Because for all the hype about every other aspect of the game, the story was still fucking retarded. It's not even that the writing itself was bad, it was fine. The problem was a fundamentally tiresome plot filled with the most pseud smooth-brained "philosophical" bullshit I've ever seen. I hate this type of story. Garbage every time it's attempted.
