Well, you do, apparently.
That's why you play games like AoE2, where you can't zoom out properly to see the battlefield and your army, so you have to rely a non-zero degree on your minimap for large area awareness, where they're reduced to shitty shapes and such. Compared to games like BAR where you can zoom out and still see the distinct details of your army and their actions because this isn't 1998 and your monitor can actually display such things even at epic scale. Not to mention how often you'll still zoom back in for micro.
