So this here is Cranky in picrel, he is well into adulthood, like, maybe 13 years later, he becomes elderly.
Or maybe Donkey Kong Country takes place 26 years after the events of DK Arcade/'94, so him being elderly then makes more sense.
But then that means Mario and Pauline would have aged 26 years, which they obviously haven't, so that would be ruled out.
This probably means that Cranky was retconned into being DK's father instead of his grandfather.
