The lands used to be ruled by tree devil-queens who all hated each other. One of Sol's greatest lieutenants, the trickster, had an idea to use their foes to their favor, so he asked the sage to bless his favorite cape with his threefold blessing.
The trickster, who was the greatest folk hero to ever walk the world, had earned the respect of the beastkind, so a thousand old or crippled members of the race offered their lives to bring about the birth of a miracle.
After their collective ritual suicide, the sage took their shifting energy and imbued it into the cape that the trickster used to trick the devils into open conflict with one another, leaving them weakened.
The cape grants you temporary supernatural powers in line with the shapes you take with the power of the trickster.
