The entire concept of 'genre' exists to make it easier for fans to search for what they like and avoid what they don't like. The majority of /a/ doesn't care for your autistic unpacking of what 'should' or 'shouldn't' be in a genre - it's not needed, detrimental (as you can see here >>280507433), and a pointless exercise that's the definition of fucking things up for everybody in the name of 'improvement'.
The MC's arc revolves around homo stuff/homo stuff driving the plot = BL/GL/yaoi/yuri. Simple as.
