Your point makes sense for players who bought the game at launch, but where are all of the people who have been purchasing the game since then? If the game is still supposedly doing well and is on track to be the best selling game in the series then it should've at least shifted a million or so more copies between launch and now and have a pretty stable player base, with new players coming in to replace the ones who are done with the game, but instead it's gone down like a lead balloon. Not only are players dropping the game, nobody seems to be picking it up either.
