I did the same over time, but included the 45 & 12 gauge.
If I had to do all my gun & ammo purchases again it would have .38, .357 & 12 gauge. Basically have a revolver/rifle compatible combo. While options are nice there is just something good about everything able to shoot the ammo you have except of course the shotgun.
