Pendulums are singlehandedly the worst trading card game mechanic ever added to a trading card game in the history of trading card games. Pendulum summoning encourages all the worst aspects of yugioh as a whole, including hand vomit, combo spam, extra deck slop, degenerate loops and 30 minute turns. The pendulum cards and their interactions are insular, have little support for standard decks/decks that came before and are an overall net negative for the franchise as a whole.

I personally loathe them and everything about them. Even on a fundamental level having a monster card that is also a spell card is retarded and calls into question the existence of stuff like Union Monsters or Ritual Spells. Its absolutely no surprise that post arc-v pendulum decks are equally godawful, unfocused and non-meta because konami themselves have absolutely no idea how to repurpose or refocus this worthless, aimless mechanic. At least Links have purpose, I bet you even the creator of the damn card type couldn't tell you what pendulum monsters were supposed to achieve for the franchise as a whole, aside from obviously being a flashy gimmick for the new anime.
