By combo depth and tech they mean autism like inertia which all it really does is let you move slightly back and forth during hits and stuff like guard flying. It's all fluff tech that is purely there to make it seem like more interesting stuff is going on when in reality it's pointless movement that exists to fill the ego of a specific group of autists.

They added this shit back into DMC5 anyways so it doesn't matter.
