Cars are good for long distance, when you need shit done that requires actually picking up stuff (grocery shopping, hardware store etc) and heading to places out of the way like the beach or bushwalking etc. Cars become a fucking NIGHTMARE when they are a day to day requirement, like going to work.
Walkable cities are far better for actual social life, nightlife, community, sense of place etc.
Issue with places like London, New York, Paris etc, is that they are not actually walkable, they are fucking MASSIVE so you have to take the rail jew to get everywhere and that becomes a massive pain in the ass, especially when big cities like London and Paris end public transport at like 11pm.
Walkable city that is population of like 300-500k is the best sort of city. (pic related).
