went for a run earlier and my wireless headphone fell out my ear and went under the steps of a footbridge I was about to cross. I got down on my hands and knees and tried to find it using my phone's torch and could see nothing but sticks, dirt, stones, and general debris. an alkie looking guy then walks past me and asks what I'm doing. I tell him, and immediately he's down on his hands and knees scraping everything from under the steps (pic rel). we can't find it, so he jumps over the locked gate next to us, as we can see it opens up at the back past the stairs, and spends 30-40 minutes digging the whole fucking thing out until we eventually find the earphone. he hands it back to me, shakes my hand, and walks off, saying something about being broke and having 5 kids and not being able to afford baby formula. I had no money or cards on me at the time so as he walked away so did I. got back to the house and immediately was wracked with guilt so I went back to try and find him but he'd gone. genuinely feel quite shaken by the whole experience.
