Its the only "re-ocurring villain" that people like outside of Eggman. Also he's been there since CD so I guess its that sort of "oldhead" void that he has filled as Eggman's right hand. Not a big fan of the "uwu my little child" family Eggman even if I do find it adorable sometimes because that feels a bit ooc for Eggman. But I think personally it's more admiration over his craft rather than the genuine care for his creations.
