This and UG American Revolution were the only real 'Total War killers', problem is they had no budget, had unpopular settings, had a small team working on them and then the studio got bought out before even finishing American Revolution.
Total War covers a very specific niche and honestly if it weren't for the Warhammer ip it wouldn't even be popular enough for anyone to try emulating it's success.
