You could be playing mindless smash or mariocart binging wahoo

Or you could see it as a virtual diorama like I do. Study a certain era, recreate a battlefield, install lots of mods, customise your army skins, limit yourself to maximal historical accuracy etc. That's what I consider fun nowadays
