>>105989151It's because gamers are fairly stigmatized as spending an irresponsible amount of time on games.
Plenty of people have hobbies, waste time on netflix, or do otherwise not entirely productive shit.
The problem is gamers are not known to balance their hobby with real life very effectively. I know a guy that makes 100k/year and does very well at work despite also putting in 12+hrs per day on fortnite (he games on the clock after finishing early)
Still, that doesn't leave a ton of time for playing with his dog, hanging out with his girlfriend, checking in on his mom, maintaining the house, etc...
All of which are being shorted because escapism is such a powerful cope.
And that's one of the better examples I know.
I know plenty of people playing video games all day, with shitty jobs who are relying on parlays to hit so they can have a decent amount of money for the month.
I know like 1 person who is a high functioning gamer, and he all but quit after getting a dog like a year ago so he could train and enrich her.
That's what I don't see in a lot of gamers, I find they are making sacrifices in life to game and not the other eay around.
There are high functioning people that can handle it, I just don't think it represents the norm. Like heroine use.
