That's my point though, that it is silly. Even older games like MH1 manage to be humorous when you have flavor text of aristocrats and nobles asking you to risk your next to capture something that'd set their house on fire because they want a pet. Monster Hunter always had a history of laughing at itself in someway, from allowing us to make a goddamn teddybear hammer or toilet plunger lance in 2004 to hunters doing Hollywood action movie one liners against monsters in Rise. World and Wilds are the outliers due to wanting to take everything very seriously and expect the player to be onboard with the super serious narrative. Neither game even laugh at themselves, with every joke being shallow or just NPCs being 'quirky' and that somehow passes for humor. That's not even getting how both World and Wilds actively removed almost all joke weapons from their games and have the gal to reintroduce them back in time gated event quests. Rise took that shit in stride and even come up with dumb stories for them like gatekeeper girl making an umbrella and the village blacksmith decides to make it into a fucking greatsword because why the fuck not.
