I don't know if anyone else feels the same way but I'm not sure I care for this seemingly more mature looking story and setting. Looks like the game isn't gonna have the same fun, lighthearted tone that the first two games had which was a big part of the appeal. Hell the idea of humans warring with each other feels almost antithetical to how humanity is portrayed in MH, as well as inherently dumb, they live in a world with giant walking natural disasters that can raze their settlements to the ground just by looking at them funny; they really shouldn't have the luxury of fighting amongst themselves, even in the Riders universe.

Stories characters keep getting older from Monster Hunter Stories 1, 2, to 3. Capcom gave up on wanting to be Yokai and just went with their pseudo Fire Emblem Pokemon hybrid spinoff by doubling down on the sex appeal. Also the blonde looks like a character design from 1990s Gundam.

1 is a bit dated but still a fun game if you can put up with it. 2 is generally a better version of 1 with similar story elements but done in a better manner and it has all the same monsties and more. Part of it has to do the focus on World and Wilds compared to prior games. Even in 4, a mainline game, you were just a guy that got hired by a caravan. You weren't some elite enviromentalist with the goal of making sure the 'status quo was maintained'. People needed monsters dealt with and they looked to you for help. Anything esle like big bad elder dragons were something you dealt with because that was your job and you were considered capable enough to handle it, not because of some brown kid begging you to murder something because he felt guilty.

It's also why Rise's story despite how dumb it is, was still a lot more digestable in comparison to Wilds and World. Yeah it had cutscenes, but only at key story points, and some key story points were told via text box anyway. They never flet intrusive and you were never forced to put down the controller or stand around and wait for NPCs to do pre baked animations while you stand there bored.

Even older games like MH1 manage to be humorous when you have flavor text of aristocrats and nobles asking you to risk your next to capture something that'd set their house on fire because they want a pet. Monster Hunter always had a history of laughing at itself in someway, from allowing us to make a goddamn teddybear hammer or toilet plunger lance in 2004 to hunters doing Hollywood action movie one liners against monsters in Rise. World and Wilds are the outliers due to wanting to take everything very seriously and expect the player to be onboard with the super serious narrative. Neither game even laugh at themselves, with every joke being shallow or just NPCs being 'quirky' and that somehow passes for humor. That's not even getting how both World and Wilds actively removed almost all joke weapons from their games and have the gal to reintroduce them back in time gated event quests.
