WWII is the "peak of cinema" war, there's really nothing to be said except that this war was thoroughly kino in its design and implementation from beginning to end. The most filmified war ever.
But for me, the essence of kino is not the most heroic nor the most grandly filmed war. At the height of television came the Yugoslav wars, mass nationalistic struggle born and bred on CRT. The characters and the landscape of these wars is what I consider kino in its raw wild form, lying around to be picked up.
