I know what ticks me off about Genshin's new (?) writing. It isnt so much about the kiddie shit, it's the very appearent fall in media literacy of the writers themselves, who are apparently just throwing wildly different elements and themes together into some incoherent picture without any deeper understanding of any of these individual elements, just to somehow tick all the boxes. This is epitomized low media literacy behavior that usually SEAnig, African or South American cheap soap opera writers engage in - both by the fact that their audience is easily placated and that the writers themselves dont know any better.
Early Genshin still had very good narrative directors who knew what they were doing and also the refusal of Genshin to invite any collab characters (aside of that Sony enforced one), was to its credit of trying to be as "clean" and streamlined in terms of world-building as it can be.
But ever since Natlan (and some people suggest that even before, like the retcon tree being a narrative device that is conveniently placed inside to allow such grating revisions), the entire narrative structure of Genshin has collapsed - as if the entire writing staff had a new director that has a severe lack of good sense and media literacy, but still has the mission set by the CEOs to carry on with Genshin as good as he thinks he can do.
Now we are left with that fucking Cactus.
PS. Whoever made this pic, thank you. This really made me think hard and inspired me to write this post.
