2.0 was a great update. The story was cliched but it was nicely paced and the writing was decent. It also did a great job of introducing the setting and characters without getting bogged down in exposition.
2.1 was pretty boring and only saved by having pheobe as your companion.
2.2 was great because it was more intimate. The scope was dialed way down to just be you and cartethiya, with a dash of cantarella. The actual contents of the quests was pretty boring but it was forgiven because of all the cute moments with carte, and of course the payoff.
2.3 was trash. Zani deserved better.
2.4 has been good. Like a mix of 2.0 and 2.2 where a new region is being introduced, but you also get paired with a companion to bond with. The thing about 2.4 that strikes me the most is the little improvements like septimont being bigger and more populated, and voiced NPCs in the populated areas to add to the ambiance.
Cool detail most probably noticed, but the golden coral pattern on Mya's face is very similar to the leaf pattern that appears on Cartethyia when she overclocks.
My theory about the current story is that Mya was taken after she won the Bloody Agon in the attempt to artificially turn her into a resonator of the Sentinel/Threnodian or just general dark tide experimentation (and I also suspect she ended up that way because she was supposed to throw in the Bloody Agon but won instead). Cartethyia traveled to Septimont probably somehow sensing that the Threnodian is trying to come back there and it's using Mya as a vessel. The beginning sequence with Carthy is still in the regular version of Septimont and the moment the dark tide spills over and touches her, she gets pulled into that other world. This is reoccurring imagery from her 2nd trailer, in the illusion when she strikes the liquifying statue and gets pulled into that dark realm and practically fights the threnodian turning into the dark tide itself, which is also what happens when she fights Arsinosa, it's all just made out of dark tide. Another interesting detail, the yet again other reddish dusty version Rover ends up in during the finales also shows up in Carty's 1st trailer, when she sees the vision of herself blowing up the town by unleashing her power.

I really hate how dull the exploration has become with the recent maps. Septimont is massive and should have loads of different secrets for the player to find, yet there is nothing other than the same things as the other zones lying openly in the world for you to checklist your way over. What is the point of the little port town other than the chest zone and some caskets? Why isn't there something to do there, or something to find through exploration? In 2.0 I found the flying and map design a breath of fresh air, but at this point I'm quite tired of it. What is even the point of the overworld map at this point other than a venue for endless echo grinding?

Though I think they should really allow any echo and even make combat gadget and nerf echoes if needed because you aren't rolling for them.
